Registration for the 2022 Spring Flag Football Season will begin on 12/20/2021 for online registration and on 01/03/22 for in-person registration.
2022 Spring Flag Football Season Information
The Lincolnton Parks & Recreation Department is excited to offer our Youth Flag Football League again for a Spring season! This is an instructional, minimal contact, flag football league for boys and girls, ages 3 – 17, which stresses teamwork and the fundamental skills of the sport. We strive to provide all children with a fun and positive team experience without the pressure to win or excel as an individual.
Practices and games are held at Betty G Ross Park (800 S Madison St, Lincolnton, NC 28092) on our new flag football fields! We're currently planning to schedule games during the evenings on Mondays (11-12 year olds, 13-14 year olds, and 15-17 year olds), Tuesdays (9-10 year olds and 4-6 year olds), and Thursdays (7-8 year olds). All practices will be on Monday's, Tuesday's, and Thursday's and will vary for each team. Practice and game nights for each age group may change slightly depending on the final number of teams and field availability. If required, make-up games/practices could be scheduled on Wednesday and Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.
Registration can be completed online (CLICK HERE) or in-person at the Lentz Recreation Center (800 S Madison St, Lincolnton, NC 28092) during regular office hours (Monday–Friday, 9a–5p).

The registration fee covers the cost of a reversible uniform top, 1 mouth guard, and 1 flag belt (includes 2 flags).
Players must supply their own cleats and game day shorts.
Players are not required to bring their own balls to games or practices.

Evaluations are required for ALL players in the 13 – 14 year old and 15 – 17 year old age divisions, and any players that were not on a Lincolnton Parks & Recreation flag football team during the 2021 Spring or Fall seasons. If the player was on a Lincolnton Parks & Recreation flag football team during the 2021 Spring or Fall seasons, and is not registered for the 13 – 14 year old or 15 – 17 year old age divisions, then that player should NOT attend an evaluation session. If you’re unsure if your child needs to attend an evaluation session, please call our office (704-735-2671) and a staff member will provide assistance. When completing the registration form, please select the appropriate evaluation date/time for your child’s age division. Players that are evaluating will only attend ONE of the evaluation dates/times. Evaluations will be held on the flag football fields at Betty G Ross Park (800 S Madison St, Lincolnton, NC 28092). For evaluations, players should wear athletic attire and tennis shoes or cleats. Players are not required to wear a mouth guard or bring their own ball and flag belt. Evaluation sessions are NOT tryouts – they are a time for us to assess the player’s skill level, which helps in drafting teams. For more information on evaluations, please call our office.
After evaluations are completed, coaches will meet with the Flag Football Program Coordinator the week of February 28th to discuss league rules, modifications, and to draft teams. Once teams are drafted and player contact information is given to coaches, the coaches will begin contacting parents to inform them of their practice schedules. If you have not heard from a coach by March 14th, please call our office and a staff member will assist you. Practices are set to begin the week of March 14th. Each team will practice 1-2 times per week. Games are set to begin on March 28th. There will be an end-of-season Jamboree held on Saturday, May 21st.
Volunteer coaches are needed in this league. Their duties will be to lead their team during practices and games to better understand the game of flag football, encourage teamwork and team building, and handle the safety measures required of the team. All volunteer coaches must complete a coaching application that includes coach conduct material, as well as information for a background check that is completed by the City of Lincolnton Human Resources Department. The head coach of a team will receive a $10.00 account credit added to your CivicRec/Rec1 User Account after the coaching application has been approved by the City of Lincolnton. This credit is given to one coach per team, and per team coached. For more information, please call our office.
Lincolnton Recreation NFL Flag Football is designed to provide all children a fun and positive football experience without the pressures to win and excel as an individual. We strive to provide the opportunity for children to learn teamwork and the fundamentals of the game of football. All children will play at least half of each game when possible.
